Sustainable Cultural Change Meets Digitalization – Dr. Svea von Hehn as Keynote Speaker

"Resistance to Resistance is Futile – How Sustainable Cultural Change Succeeds" – with this keynote, Dr. Svea von Hehn opened the discussion at the Sovereign IT Forum, which took place for the sixth time. The topic and the surrounding dialogue are of critical importance, especially in the public sector, to ensure the success of Germany’s nationwide digitalization efforts, helping to confront and reduce resistance. Arvato Systems, as part of Bertelsmann, is driving this digital transformation while addressing the essential question of how cultural change can truly succeed.

In her keynote, Svea emphasized how fears and shame over perceived loss of competence can lead to resistance against change, and that mere directives alone will not change behavior—particularly not the kind of behavior that drives success.

Many of us may share a common wish: to handle personal administrative tasks, like changing addresses or renewing ID cards, more efficiently online rather than having to visit a government office.

The panel discussion highlighted how crucial it is to avoid falling into resignation and instead focus on looking ahead, tackling challenges with enthusiasm and the strength to implement solutions. It is encouraging to see that these qualities are already noticeably present. Additionally, a versatile toolkit from behavioral economics is available, offering numerous practical tips. This provides a positive foundation for developing successful solutions.

It was a pleasure to be part of this groundbreaking exchange!
